Salt Landscape of Sigüenza-Atienza

The Sweet and Salty Landscape of Siguenza and Atienza encompasses what was, since the Middle Ages, the main salt production area in the interior of the Iberian Peninsula. However, it is not simply a salt-producing or industrial landscape, but rather a landscape of salt, understood as a landscape of power built on the wealth that salt generated over the centuries as a strategic raw material for kings, nobles, and clergy, especially since the Middle Ages.
